GUÍA DE CÁDIZ
Soy guía oficial de Cádiz y técnico superior en turismo. Me formé como guía profesional hace más de una década. Cuando lo hacía, pasé una temporada de verano en California pues entendía que para ser un buen profesional de este sector debía de viajar y conocer el mundo. Tras finalizar mis estudios fui a vivir a Londres donde aprendí inglés mientras trabajaba en cocina como ayudante o en limpieza. Una experiencia dura pero que me enseñó un idioma que hoy me conecta con personas de todo el mundo. Luego regresé a mi ciudad natal, Cádiz y, tras trabajar para algunas compañías, decidí comenzar a ser guía independiente en 2018. Desde entonces no he parado de trabajar, de enseñar y de aprender, de crear nuevas experiencias, de colaborar con grandes y pequeñas marcas para dar a conocer Cádiz y su historia tanto a turistas como a locales. I'm a certified local guide from Cádiz and a technician in tourism. I trained as a professional guide more than a decade ago. While doing that, I spent a summer season in California because I believed that to be a good professional I had to travel and get to know the world. After finishing my studies, I went to live in London where I learned English while working in kitchen as a helper or doing cleaning work. It was a tough experience but it taught me a language that today connects me with people from all over the world. Then I returned to my hometown Cádiz and, after working for some companies, I decided to become an independent guide in 2018. Since then I haven't stopped working, teaching and learning, creating new experiences, and collaborating with big and small brands to showcase Cádiz and its history to both tourists and locals. I mainly receive clients from the United States and Europe who are seeking an exclusive, high-quality experience led by a professional local guide. I also create cultural and historical content in Spanish on social media for a large community. You can find me as Jesús Guía Cádiz.
Mi propósito es transmitir historia y fomentar la reflexión sobre nuestro pasado. Solo comprendiendo lo que nos precedió podremos entender el presente y afrontar el futuro con más perspectiva, valorando la riqueza cultural que nos rodea. En un mundo cada vez más polarizado y superficial, aprender y enseñar historia con rigor es casi un acto de rebeldía. Todos tenemos la responsabilidad de aprenderla, sin que sea un privilegio reservado a unos pocos. Quien desconoce su pasado desconoce su identidad, y esa ignorancia nos hace vulnerables y manipulables. Aprender historia es esencial para conservar nuestra memoria y avanzar como sociedad.
My purpose is to convey history and encourage reflection on our past. Only by understanding what came before us can we make sense of the present and face the future with greater perspective, valuing the cultural richness that surrounds us. In a world that is increasingly polarized and superficial, learning and teaching history with rigor is almost an act of rebellion. We all have the responsibility to learn it, rather than treat it as a privilege reserved for a few. Those who do not know their past do not know their identity, and that ignorance makes us vulnerable and easy to manipulate. Learning history is essential to preserving our memory and moving forward as a society.
